Have you thought about making some of your Christmas gifts this year? For a truly personal gift to family and friends you can easily share a treat from your kitchen. Home-made and eco friendly are popular trends this Christmas and not only for their green credentials as there are pounds to be saved too. Wouldn’t you rather get messy and creative in the kitchen than stressing around the shopping centres and high streets chasing that ‘perfect’ gift?

We have put together a short list of mouth watering Christmas treats that should please everyone on your gift-giving list. If you wonder how to pack and wrap your finished produce why not continue on the green course and use reusable food containers that can double up as an added gift? Stylish and colourful food containers are perfect for wrapping and packing food and also an ideal gift that can be reused for packed lunches in the New Year.

Since it is the British Sausage Week this week we have made our own sausage rolls for the children’s lunch boxes. I use the simple but delicious recipe from Fay Ripley’s cook book ‘Fay’s Family Food’. I like the idea of making my own as I can then get really good quality sausages from my local butcher and the kids love to give me a helping hand making them..
